Xiaomi, one of the best smartphone manufacturers in India, came up with some good enough devices in their budget segments like the Redmi note 5 pro and the Redmi 5. But unfortunately, they never managed to have proper stock for these devices. Now the latest rumors suggest that they are coming up with a new device in the budget segment in China and India as well, the Redmi S2.
Note: The features mentioned below are just rumors and each and every bit of the information provided may or may not be absolutely correct.
Redmi S2: Specifications and Details
The device will be called as Redmi S2 with entry-level specifications. It will be the most affordable dual camera featured smartphone from the company. We hope for better stocks this time with the new device. Let us have a look at the specifications of this device in brief.
If we talk about the display, the Redmi S2 will feature an LCD display of 18:9 aspect ratio with HD+ resolution, i.e. 1440 x 720. But as of now, we don’t know the exact size of the display. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, the favorite SoC of Xiaomi that we have previously seen in Redmi Note 4 and Redmi Note 5. The base variant will have 16 GB of internal storage and 2GB or 3GB of RAM variants. Also, you can use the Micro SD Card to expand the storage space as per your needs.
As this phone will be focused on Cameras, let us have a look at the camera segment of Redmi S2. The phone will feature a dual rear camera setup with a primary 12MP Omni Vision OV12A10 sensor or a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor with a 5MP of Samsung’s S5K5E8 secondary sensor with dual tone LED flash. The front camera setup will feature a Samsung S5K5E8 sensor. The features company is focusing on are Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Portrait Mode and the Face Unlock that can boom the market if Redmi S2 will be priced just like the Redmi Note 5 series.
With all these specs the phone will be powered by a 3,080 mAh of non-removable battery. However, we don’t think that Xiaomi will add support of fast-charging. Lastly, the phone will boot with an unknown build of MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The details of the expected launch date are not yet known.
If Xiaomi launches Redmi S2 for an aggressive price tag, it can boom the market being a camera-centric smartphone at an affordable price. This means that you will see a polycarbonate body instead of a metal design. Also, next week Xiaomi is going to launch their Mi 6X in China.
